Season #1 for the Dreamers was disappointing to say the very least. Virtually out of the running by mid-season, Berkeley found themselves in a battle with Washington D.C. just to stay out of last place. Splitting in the off-season to form two teams (Berkeley and Paris), only fifteen original Berkeley players returned for Season #2.
After the split, speculation was that the Dreamers were certain to be cellar dwellers, especially with the departures of their best players (Norman Rockwell, Jan Vermeer, and strikeout king Auguste Rodin). Of their 5 Season #1 all-stars, only one, Ansel Adams, remained for Season #2. However, with perhaps the best expansion draft ever witnessed in history, the Dreamers turned their team around and not only won their division, but won a record 118 games in the process. They faced the other half of their original team, Paris, in the playoffs, and went on to win the Mission on Thunderhead in 7 games against Beijing of the Blood Nut League.
Brushing aside the distraction that was the strike-shortened Season #3, the Dreamers looked to continue their dominance in Season #4. Not content to leave the roster alone, Berkeley dealt star pitcher Ansel Adams for Blood Nut star outfielder Marlon Brando in a multi-player blockbuster deal. Berkeley, however, was unable to keep pace with a rejuvenated Tombstone squad, finishing in second place with an impressive 97 wins. Frederick Evans continued the dominance he established in Season #2, winning his second Don Knotts pitching award.
Looking ahead to Season #5 Berkeley looks as tough as any team in any of the B-Nut Leagues, with stars throughout the entire roster. On the pitching side, Evans returns to anchor a dangerous staff that features Robert Capa, Lewis Wickes Hine, and Edward Steichen. The bullpen is just as dangerous with the right handed Man Ray and the south paw David Octavius Hill both capable of serving as the full time closer, as well as the emergence of Richard Misrach. Brando looks to show what he can do with a full season in the league, joining Louis Jacques Daguerre and Oliver Gagliani as the leaders on the field and in the lineup.
There will also be an infusion of youth as the Dreamers bring in five draft picks, including pitcher George Eastman and outfielder Victor Hasselblad. The Contraction Draft brings in talented pitcher Bone Daddy, and multi-talented first baseman John Henry Sacajawea.
