Marlon Brando of Burbank won the Most Valuable Player Award with his incredible season (.383, 154 RBI, 156 Runs, 43 HR, 68 2B). Despite Brando's efforts, armless Burbank ended the season in second place again. Diogenes of last place Athens won the Evil Harry Award with an incredible 22-1 record along with a sparkling 2.16 ERA. Without Diogenes the rest of the Athens hurlers went 48-91 (.345), which translates into a 56-106 record over a 162 game schedule.

Chicago and New York met in the playoffs. New York limped to the finish line as injuries to several key players made for a patchwork lineup. Chicago, on the other hand, came in rested and ready. Chicago had sluggers Frank Gagliano (51 HR, 148 RBI), Joe Marcello (.303, 30 HR), and closer Frank Ferrera in the bullpen (48 Saves), so a trip to the Mission on Thunderhead seemed guaranteed. To everyone's surprise, especially Chicago's, it took a full seven games to eliminate the pesky Scribblers. New York's mixture of sacrifices, stolen bases, and employing the hit and run was the type of aggressive play that gave the league headaches all season long and almost gave a migraine to the Chicago homerun barrage.

Mission on Thunderhead #1 was expected to be a close contest between two power houses, the Chicago Choirboys and the Tombstone Morticians. It first appeared as though Chicago would not disappoint the Windy City faithful, when they got back to back homeruns by leadoff man Joseph Gallo and Charlton Heston to start game one in Tombstone. That was the last of the good news for Chicago as they were swept in four straight games. So disturbed by the humiliating loss, Chicago outfielder/co-owner Frank Sinatra spoke with management for six hours behind closed doors. The next morning Chicago starter Joseph Zerilli was found dead. The message was clear: losing hurts but losing badly gets you killed.

Among the season's more somber notes was the passing of Fred G. Sanford. A thirdbaseman for the Hollywood Thespians, Sanford contracted AIDS midway through the season and died at season's end. Originally accepted that Sanford contracted AIDS during a blood transfusion at San Francisco's Polk Street Men's Hospital, that theory was later disregarded as improbable. At an emotional press conference, Burbank thirdbaseman Rock Hudson admitted to letting Sanford borrow his glove during a 3 games series in May, thus infecting the unsuspecting Sanford.

*Like Blood Nut Season #1, very little written history exists about season #1 and many of the records and statistics have also been lost under mysterious circumstances. As with the inaugural Blood Nut season, stories of the players' exploits are now passed down to future generations by those who were there. There have been attempts to record the stats for both seasons, but the numbers will never be complete and will forever remain the stuff of legends.
