The inaugural season of the Blood Nut League consisted of 4 teams. The Hollywood "Sluggers" (later the "Thespians"), Chili Mountain "Cinnamon Crackers" (moved to Burbank and renamed "Bombers" for season #2), Fancy City "Vocal Thunder" (moved to Las Vegas and renamed "Glitterbugs" 22 games into season #1), and the Sacramento "Friends".
Hollywood won their first six games and never looked back as they led the neophyte league from start to finish. The closest any team got was when Chili Mountain crawled within 2 games with 39 games left. Sensing danger, Hollywood took control and left none to doubt their right as Champions. Though Hollywood hosted the cellar in both team batting (.234) and team steals (55), their strengths overcompensated for their shortcomings. Hollywood led the league in Homeruns (206), Triples (66), ERA (3.18), and Shutouts (19). The defense also helped out with a league low 137 errors.
True to their name, the Sluggers' offense was led by the big three of: League MVP Dabney Coleman (45 HR, 126 RBI), Johnny Carson (37 HR, 111 RBI), and the "manly" Bea Arthur (40 HR, 97 RBI). Not to be outdone, the pitching staff had a Big Three of their own: Evil Harry Award winner Stan Atkinson (24-9, 2.16 ERA, 330 Strikeouts, 24 CG, 6 SHO), Leonard Nimoy (18-8, 2.33 ERA, 7 1/2 SHO), and Bill Cosby (22 Saves).
Although no other team could boast of such a complete stable of talent, other fine seasons were turned in by Non-Hollywood players. Rock Hudson (Chili, .368 led League), Elvis Presley (Las Vegas, 35 HR, 65 steals), Ben Vereen (Chili, .279, 130 walks, 110 runs), Harry Belafonte (20-12, 2.58 ERA), and Rick Ljung (Sacramento, 34 Saves).
Season #1 was such a success it prompted the arrival of 4 new teams. In addition to the original four franchises, Season #2 would welcome: The Athens "Togamen", Chicago "Choirboys", Sioux City "Savages", and the New York City "Scribblers".

*Very little written history about Blood Nut Season #1 exists and many of the records and statistics have been lost under mysterious circumstances. Today, stories of the players' exploits are passed down to future generations by those who were there. There have been attempts to record the stats for these pioneer players, but the numbers will never be complete. The legends, however, will live forever.
