The Haight-Ashbury Hippies might give a good chase to the Electric Ladyland Blue Meanies. With a brand new stadium in Golden Gate Park in the Haight-Ashbury district, fans can enjoy live music in any one of eleven clubs built along the top level of the stadium and still see the action on the field. On special promotional nights after the game, some of the players get together and jam on a small stage that rises out of the field directly behind home plate.
Although the Hippies had a good scare a year ago due to their top prospect pitcher Jerry Garcia dropping during a practice and going into a diabetic coma for 86 days, he emerged feeling healthy, but forgot how to pitch. It has taken him almost a year to get back up to speed, but he says he is ready to play and feels he has excellent control. The Hippies have a more balanced line-up. With a very strong infield and ace pitcher David Crosby leading the way, Graham Nash takes charge in centerfield with an incredible arm and can throw runners out at the plate. He is also a constant hitter. Their real power lies in first baseman David Nelson.
